A freight town four miles from the resort strip
Frankford holds 790 residents and one asset that towns twenty times its size lack: an interchange where the Delmarva Central Railroad meets the Maryland and Delaware Railroad. Rail is the reason the place exists, the Pennsylvania Railroad having created it after an 1808 founding, with incorporation following in 1937. US 113 carries north toward Georgetown and south into Maryland. The town also runs its own police department and its own municipal water system, unusual at this scale.
Its motto, Where Beach and Country Meet, describes an economy more than a view. Employment across the wider Frankford area concentrates in construction, grounds maintenance and food service — the labor that keeps the resorts operating four miles east, done by people who live and spend on this side of the county. Anyone selling to that household is selling into a working schedule, not a holiday one.
Trades, freight and a customer who stays all year
Nobody commutes into Frankford for a large employer, because there is not one to commute to. The businesses are small, and several of them are the sort that needed rail or highway frontage to make sense in the first place — concrete, body work, funeral services and contracting hold the state permits inside town limits. What that adds up to is an economy of trades and small operators whose customers are other residents, other contractors, and resort properties down the road.
Two practical things follow. Many Frankford businesses actually sell into Bethany, Ocean View and Selbyville, which means their websites have to name those places rather than assume the town name carries them. And census estimates for the wider 19945 area put the Hispanic share near half — a ZIP-level figure rather than a town-limits one — so bilingual reach is not decoration for a contractor hiring crews or a shop serving families. Both are website problems before they are advertising problems.

What Frankford owners ask about
Our customers are mostly at the beach. Do we still want a Frankford page?
Yes, and the resort-town pages as well. The Frankford page tells search engines where you actually are and gets you found by neighbors; separate pages for the towns you drive to get you found by whoever signs the cheques. They perform different jobs and should not be merged.
Half our crew speaks Spanish first. Is a bilingual site worth paying for?
For recruiting alone it frequently is. A careers page written in Spanish travels through networks an English-only one never touches, and in a labor market this tight that is a return before you have counted a single new customer.
Some directories put Indian River High School at a Frankford address. Does that sort of error matter?
It shows how loose local data can be — the high school is in Dagsboro on Armory Road, whatever a database says. The same sloppiness afflicts business records, so tidying your own address, hours and category across directories is unglamorous work that quietly shifts rankings.
We are a two-person outfit. Is any of this worth it at our size?
In a town of 790 a website is not there to impress anyone. It is there to answer the things you would otherwise repeat on the phone and to prove you are real to somebody who got your name from a neighbor. Five pages done properly will do that.

We also work with businesses in Dagsboro, Ocean View, Selbyville, Millsboro and across Inland Sussex County, between US 113 and the beaches. Not in the neighborhood? We build and support websites for clients all over the country — the process works just as well over a phone call.
